Residential Composite Solid Core Doors

Available in both classic and modern styles, the design of our solid core doors is focused on enhanced durability and resilience.

No compromise on style...

Unlike other composite doors, the Portofino Solid Core Door boasts six teen layers of laminated timber in its unique 48mm solid core. This super-secure layering ensures your door is much stronger and more robust against the threat of break-ins.

Inspired by today ’s modern demands, our signature Portofino Solid Core door offers a mix of Portofino features not found anywhere else. With our ‘Auto-Engage’ locking system as standard, your door will automatically engage upon closing, for super-strong compression, keeping your property free of drafts and protected from the threat of would-be intruders.

There’s no compromise on style either, our fabulous range of classic and contemporary styles will really help you make your mark.

How a Portofino composite solid core door works...

As the name suggests, our Solid Core Doors are stronger than standard doors. If that doesn’t impress you, one of our many additional features surely will.

Our Solid Core Doors are extremely versatile, so you are able to select a door that fits in with your style of property or aims to transform the look of your home. We can modify our doors to ensure it is just how you wish.

Solid core 'versus' standard foam filled doors...

The Portofino Solid Core Door

The interlocked layers of laminated timber that make up the 48mm Portofino Solid Core Door ensures the grain is running in multiple directions. This means quite simply that the core has increased strength and rigidity. This is further protected by two robust coloured PVCU skins, which are less vulnerable to scratching than GRP skins.

The result? Robust. Solid. Secure. A door built to last, backed by our exceptional guarantee.

Standard Foam-Filled Door

A typical foam filled composite door is 44mm and has only a proportion of the door which is solid. The door is comprised of two skins made from Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) – commonly known as fibreglass. These skins are bonded into a solid frame which is filled with high density foam. The foam-filled centre offers limited protection in the event of a break-in, when compared to a timber layered door.

Portofino Security - protect your home...

Nothing is more important than the safety and security of your home, your family and your belongings. You might be surprised to know that more than 35% of break-ins in the UK occur through the front door.

We firmly believe that we have a responsibility to install products that offer only the highest level of security, which is why we’ve hand-picked the best locks and hardware to give you maximum protection, including our exclusive Auto-Engage locking mechanism.

Ask about Secured by Design

We’re proud to boast that our Portofino Solid Core Door has been tested to meet the requirements of the Police Flagship Initiative – Secured by Design – which combines the principles of ‘designing out crime’ with physical security.
