We have just taken receipt of three brand-new delivery vans, all proudly carrying the Joedan logo, which are about to go out on their maiden voyage and have each been named in honour of one of Bob Marley’s most famous tracks.
Being a huge fan of the much-missed Jamaican singer, it was our Planning and Logistics Manager Keith Vernon, who came up with the unique idea of christening them ‘One Love’, ‘Two Love’ and ‘Three Love’, in tribute to Marley & The Wailers hit song, “One Love/People Get Ready”.
Having served in the Royal Navy in the 1980s, including the Falklands conflict of 1982, Keith believes that there should be a lot more love in the world, a sentiment shared by Marley and communicated by him in the track, taken from his multi-selling 1977 album, Exodus.
The added reason behind the van’s names is that when posting on his Facebook account, Keith always signs off “One Love x”. Whenever our Chairman, John, then replies to one of his posts, he responds with “Two Love”.
As soon as Keith got word from John of the arrival of three shiny new delivery vans for him and his colleagues, his immediate thought was to individually name each van, in a similar fashion to what a famous national haulage company does with their vehicles.
Pictured from left to right above, standing in front of their respective vans, ‘One Love’ is driven by Simon Inglis, who has been with Joedan for nearly two years, with Dave Rogers at the wheel of ‘Two Love’ after he re-joined the company a month ago following a short sabbatical (his father, Dave Rogers Snr, drove for Joedan for many years until retiring). Keith has the keys to ‘Three Love’.
Give the guys a wave and bid them a ‘One Love’, ‘Two Love’ or ‘Three Love’ if you see them on the road.
