Training with Joedan and having a career with them enables me to learn and grow with the company with the opportunity to gain qualifications.
My training consists of spending time in the manufacturing department, installing on site and undertaking site surveys and in turn helps me to liaise with various clients across multiple building sectors, such as contracting, architectural and surveying.
Having a trainee mentor and being included with a variety of projects, allows me to understand the processes to assist me developing within the industry.
I am delighted that I have been given this unique opportunity to grow with Joedan.
The elements that I enjoy with my job is the challenge of learning something new each day and getting to understand all the various product, whilst also having the training and career opportunities Joedan has offered.
I then went on to study for an HND in Manufacturing Engineering and have since continued to be pushed by the business, enabling me to progress from Production Engineer through to Engineering Manager and up to Manufacturing Director.
I’ve worked on the shop floor and handled the product to understand how it works and I’ve worked directly with the Chairman and Managing Director on overarching projects for the future direction of the business.
Now, nearing 40 I sit on the board as Executive Director of IT and Software and continue to have an influence on the future direction of the business with the skills and knowledge I’ve developed over my near 20 years with Joedan and look forward to helping to shape the next 20 years of the business!
With the continued support from Joedan, I have progressed to Head Receptionist leading a team of three Receptionists who also cover reception duties across all the Joedan Design Centres.
Working at ‘Front of House’ we take pride in making sure that the Design Centres are kept clean and tidy and that we offer a warm welcome at Joedan to include a ‘personal welcome sign’ displayed on a screen by Reception; ensuring our customers experience the best service we can offer and that they leave happy.
My duties make a busy day and I enjoy that every day is different and I would not want it any other way! Over the years I have met some lovely customers at Joedan and still maintain great business relationships with them.
I love my job!
It was after this coverage within the business, I was asked if I would like to create and develop sales in the commercial sector, within the Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.
Having progressed to Commercial Sales Manager; I am tasked to working closely with an existing client base and developing new clients. These clients can be surveyors, architects, consultants or building contractors and the projects we assist with is a range from education, health, public, industrial and commercial sectors.
My role generally consists of undertaking sales site surveys, offering clients advice on specifications, window and door configurations which best suit them, their site and budgets and take these elements into account along with building regulations.
There are many other elements in my position as a Commercial Sales Manager; but working in the Commercial Sector at Joedan is as rewarding and fulfilling role.
Part of my role involves receiving ‘Leads’ and actioning them. By calling and chatting with the customer on the phone, in the Design Centre or on site; we look at building and maintaining good customer relationships.
I go on site visits to measure windows and doors for quoting and with the aid of our CAD system, can provide quotes and contracts. As a Sales Consultant it is important to work in unison with other Departments to ensure we deliver the best service to the customer.
At Joedan, we work in a non-pressure sales environment where the customer can feel relaxed in our Design Centre. By sitting down with them and discussing their requirements, we can show them the array of windows and doors we offer and it enables the customer a chance to look and feel the products and answer any questions they may have.
With Joedan’s continued support and commitment; I was given the unique opportunity to progress quickly to Retail Sales Manager at our Newport Design Centre on the Isle of Wight.
