Any notion of aluminium doors being cold is a total myth.

You have to go back to the late 1970’s to uncover the reasoning for some people incorrectly believing that aluminium is cold.

Back then, aluminium doors would be built without a thermal break, but those days are long gone, at least so in this country, with aluminium doors featuring a polyamide or expanded polyurethane barrier to divide the inner and outer sides of an aluminium frame. The thermal break technology helps with heat retention and minimises heat loss.

UK Building Regulations and our unique climate demand that the inner side of aluminium doors is never too cold, and aluminium is an inherent insulating material.

Some sporadic and simple TLC will keep an aluminium door spotless.

Aluminium is so hard-wearing that it rarely needs cleaning, however, dirt and grime can still build-up on an aluminium door frame. Thankfully, it’s really easy to shift.

A standard glass cleaner will be fine for cleaning any glazed sections of the design (preferably one that promises a streak-free finish) and lubricating the locking mechanism with WD40 a couple of times a year will keep it working smoothly.
